물에서 건진 아이 모세 줍줍 이야기(출애굽기 2장)

출애굽기 1장 내용은 히브리 사람 아들을 모조리 죽여 없애는 정책을 하는 가운데 출애굽기 2장은 레위 여자가 아들을 몰래 키우다 석 달째 나일강에 버렸는데 이집트 공주가 바구니에 들어있는 모세를 줍고 자식처럼 키운다는 내용입니다. 그 와중에 자신의 정체성을 찾은 것인지 정체를 안 것인지 장성하여 히브리 사람을 괴롭히는 애굽 사람을 죽였고 이에 왕을 피해 미디안 땅으로 도망가 십보라와 결혼해 아들을 낳았습니다.

2. Now a man from the house of Levi went and took as his wife a Levite woman.

2. The woman conceived and bore a son, and when she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months, 

3. When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the river bank.

4. And his sister stood at a distance to know what would be done to him.

5. Now the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river, while her young women walked beside the river. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her servant woman, and she took it.

6. When she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby was crying, She took pity on him and said, "This is one of the Hebrews' children."

7. Then his sister said to Pharaoh's daughter, "Shall I go and call you a nurse from the Hebrew woman to nurse the child for you?"

8. And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Go," So the girl went and called the child's mother.

9. And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages."

So the woman took the child and nursed him.

10. When the child grew older, she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, "Because, " she said, "I drew him out of the water."

 

 

 

레위 가족 중 레위 여자와 결혼해서 아들을 낳았는데 아이가 너무 잘생겨서 석달 동안 숨기다가 갈대 등으로 바구니를 만들어 나일강에 띄어 보냅니다. 아이에게 눈을 뗄 수 없던 아이 엄마는 어찌 되나 지켜보고 있었습니다. 그러자 파라오의 딸이 목욕하러 왔다가 떠내려가는 아이를 보고 놀라고 시녀들이 히브리 사람 아이라고 합니다. 공주는 히브리 사람 유모를 데려와 아이에게 젖을 물리고 물에서 건져내었다는 의미의 이름인 모세라고 짓습니다. 그리고 시녀가 부른 유모는 바로 모세의 친모였고요.

 

 

 

모세의 살인

 

 

 

11. One day,  when Moses had grown up, he went out his people and looked on their burdens, and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his people.

12. He looked this way and that, and seeing no one, he struck down the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.

13. When he went out the next day, behold, two Hebrews were struggling together. And he said to the man in the wrong, "Why do you strike your companion?" 

14. He answered, "Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you mean to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?" Then Moses was afraid, and thought, "Surely the thing is known."

15. When Pharaoh heard of it, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and stayed in the land of Midian. And he sat down by a well.

 

모세가 자신의 출생의 비밀을 모르는 줄 알았는데 성경을 보니 알고 있었던 모양이네요. 모세가 장성해서 길을 가는 중 애굽 사람이 히브리 사람을 괴롭히는 것을 보고 좌우를 살핀 후 애굽 사람을 죽이고 모래 속에 파묻은 사건이 생겼습니다. 다음 날에 그 자리로 가니 히브리 사람 둘이서 싸우고 있었습니다. 그래서 모세는 왜 둘이 싸우고 있느냐고 하자 히브리 사람이 말하길 왜 왕자님아 애굽 사람 죽인 것처럼 우리도 죽이려고? 그러자 모세가 이들이 자신의 한 짓을 알고 있다고 생각하니 두려워합니다. 그리고 파라오는 이 사실을 알게 되고 모세를 죽이려고 하였습니다. 그래서 모세는 미디안 땅으로 피신하여 우물가에 앉아 있었습니다.

 

 

 

항상 무슨 복선 같은 일은 우물가에서 생기네요.

16. Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came and drew water and filled the troughts to water their father's flock.

17. The shepherds came and drove them away, but Moses stood up and saved them, and watered their flock.

18. When they came home to their father Reuel, he said, "How is it that you have come home so soon today?"

19. They said, "An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds and even drew water for us and watered the flock."

20. He said to his daughters, "Then where is he? Why have you left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread."

21. And Moses was content to dwell with the man, and he gave Moses his daughter Zipporah.

22. She gave birth a son, and he called his name Gershom, for he said, "I have been a sojourner in a foreign land."

 

23. During those many days the kig of Egyp died, and the people of Israel groaned because of their slavery and cried out for help. Their cry for rescue from slavery came up to God.

24. And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

25. God saw the people of Israel-and God knew.

 

미디안 제사장에게는 일곱 명의 딸이 있었는데 그들이 와서 물을 길어 양 떼에게 물을 먹이려고 하는데 목자들이 방해를 하여 모세가 이들을 쫓고 물을 먹을 수 있게 해줬습니다. 딸들은 아버지 르우벨에게 돌아가 도와준 사람 얘기를 하였고 제사장은 모세를 초대해 저녁을 먹이고는 그의 딸 십보라를 모세에게 주었다고 합니다. 그리고 이들 사이에 아들이 태어났는데 타국에서 나그네가 되었다는 의미인지 타국에서 낳은 아들이란 이름으로 지은 것인지 아들 이름은 게르솜이라고 지었습니다. 

 

그리고 몇 년 후 모세를 키워준 왕이자 애굽의 왕이 죽었고 이스라엘 후손들은 고통으로 탄식의 나날을 부르짖고 있었습니다.
