하나님의 군대도 숭배 금지 신명기 17장

신명기 17장은 공정한 재판과 우상 숭배 금지를 강조합니다. 여기서 우상 숭배는 하나님이 세운 군대조차도 숭배하지 말라고 하십니다. 또한, 왕을 세울 수 있되 하나님이 선택한 왕만 가능하다고 합니다. 왕의 역할과 절제도 강조하십니다. 그리고 말이나 아내 그리고 금과 은을 지나치게 모으지 말라고 경고합니다.

하나님의 군대도 숭배하지 말라

1."You shall not sacrifice to the Lord your God an ox or a sheep in which is a blemish, any defect whatever, for that is an abomination to the Lord your God.

 

하나님은 모든 것을 자유의지에 맡긴다고 하지만 알고보면 참으로 제약이나 규약이 많고 까다로운 분이십니다. 신명기 17장은 하나님이 자신이 만든 군대도 숭배하지 말라고 하였습니다. 창세기 2장 1절에 하나님의 부대가 처음 등장합니다. 왜 하나님이 부대를 만들었는지는 모르겠지만요. 이 장에서는 하나님이 만든 부대건 태양, 달 등의 천국의 호스트도 일절 숭배하지 말라고 합니다. 보통 일반 사람들은 하나님은 직접 임재하지 않고 보다 위엄 있는 모습으로 하나님의 종들이 나대니까 선뜻 이들에게 호의를 갖고 숭배할 수도 있을 것 같습니다. 질투 많은 하나님은 오로지 자신에게만 충성을 맹세하라고 하셨습니다.

 

 

 2."If there is found among you, within any of your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, a man or woman who does what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, in transgressing his covernant, 3 and has gone and served other gods and worshipped them, or the sun or the moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have forbidden, 4 and it is told you and you hear of it, then you shall enquire diligently, and if it is true and certain that such an abomination has been done in Israel, 5 then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has done this evil thing, and you shall stone that man or woman to death with stones. 6 On the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses the one who is to die shall be put to death; a person shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness. 7 The hand of the witnesses shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.

신중한 사형판결

 

8 "If any case arises requiring decision betwwn one kind of homicide and another, one kind of legal right and another, or one kind of assault and another, any case within your towns that is too difficult for you, then you shall arise and go up to the place that the Lord you God will choose. 9 And you shall come to the Levitical priests and to the judge who is in office in those days, and you shall consult them, and they shall declare to you the decision. 10 Then you shall do according to what they declare to you from that place that the Lord will choose. And you shall be careful to do according to all that they direct you. 11 According to the instructions that they give you, and according to the decision which they pronounce to you, you shall do. You shall not turn aside from the verdict that they declare to you, either to the right hand or to the left. 12 The man who acts presumptuously by not obeying the priest who stands to minister there before the Lord your God, or the judge, that man shall die. So you shall purge the evil from Israel. 13 And all the people shall hear and fear and not act presumptuously again.

 

 

사형 심판을 할 때는 각별히 신중해야 하며 공정한 판결을 당부합니다. 오른쪽이나 왼쪽으로 벗어나지 말라고 하셨고요. 하나님의 권위를 받은 재판관과 제사장의 결정은 절대적으로 존중되어야 하며 이에 대한 불복은 허용되지 않는다고 합니다. 그런데 재판관이 불공정하면 어찌 될는지 모르겠네요. 아무튼, 재판관의 판결을 따르지 않는 자가 있다면 죽임을 당해야 하며 악을 제거해야 한다고 합니다. 그래야 백성이 두려워하며 교만하게 행동하지 않을 거라고 합니다. 법원 난입한 폭도들은 이유야 어떻든 엄벌에 처해야겠습니다. 나라가 망조가 제대로 든 것이죠. 물론 공평하지 못한 법원에게 일차적 책임을 물어야 할 테지만요. 잠깐 성경 얘기하다 샛길로 빠졌네요.

왕을 세우되

 

14 "When you come to the land that the Lord your God is giving you, and you possess it and dwell in it and then say, 'I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are around me', 15 you may indeed set a king over you whom the Lord your God will choose. One from among your brothers you shall set as king over you. You may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother. 16 Only he must not acquire many horses for himself or cause the people to return to Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since the Lord has said to you, 'You shall never return that way again.' 17 And he shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn away, nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold. 

 

 18 "And when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself in a book a copy of this law, approved by the Levitical priests. 19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes, and doing them, 20 that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he may not turn aside from the commandment, either to the right hand or to the left, so that he may continue long in his kingdom, he and his children, in Israel. 

 

하나님이 인도한 나라에 입성하여 너희들끼리 왕을 세우고자 하면 이를 허락할 것이다. 단, 하나님이 임명한 왕이 되어야 한다고 합니다. 인간이 과연 자유의지가 있는 인물인지 알다가도 모르겠습니다. 해석 등을 보면 하나님은 금을 탐하지 않았다고 하는데요. 하찮은 인간들이, 그것도 당시 사람들이 금이 무엇에 쓰는 물건이지 얼마나 좋은지 알 턱이 있겠나요? 하나님이 금이야 옥이야 소중히 여기니 탐을 내는 거였겠죠. 오히려 자꾸 언급을 해서 금을 모으게 된 건 아닌가 싶은 생각이 들기도 합니다.
