절기를 잘 지키고 공정한 재판을 해라 신명기 16장

신명기 16장은 이스라엘 백성에게 하나님의 구원과 축복을 기억하며 절기를 잘 지키라고 명령하는 내용입니다. 그와 동시에 공동체의 정의 및 번영을 유지하기 위해 공정한 재판이 필수적이며 이방의 우상숭배 또한 철저히 금지시키는 내용입니다.

절기를 준수하라

 

1"Observe the month of Abib and keep the Passover to the Lord your God, for in the month of Abib the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt by night. 2 And you shall offer the passover sacrifice to the Lord your God, from the flock or the herd, at the place that the Lord will choose, to make his name dwell there. 3 You shall eat no leavened bread with it. For seven days you shall eat it with unleavened bread, the bread of affliction for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste- that all the days of your life you may remember the day when you came out of the land of Egypt. 4 No leaven shall be seen with you in all your territory for seven days, nor shall bay of the flesh that you sacrifice on the evening of the first day remain all night until morning. 5 You may not offer the Passover sacrifice within any of your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, 6 but at the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name dwell in it, there you shall offer the Passover sacrifice, in the evening at sunset, at the time you came out of Egypt. 7 And you shall cook it an eat in at the place that the Lord your God will choose. And in the morning you shall turn and go to your tents. 8 For six days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a solemn assembly to the Lord your God. You shall do no work on it.

 

 

아빕월은 유대교에서 첫째 달을 의미합니다. 출애굽기 12장 2절에 나오듯 하나님이 이스라엘 백성에게 명령한 새로운 해의 시작으로 이집트 탈출의 달이기도 합니다. 바로 세바스 데이 유월절입니다. 이 기간에는 고생을 했던 만큼 고생했던 순간을 잊지 말라는 차원에서 누룩 없는 빵 즉, 무교병을 먹어야 하며 이는 고난의 떡을 상징합니다.

칠칠절

 

9. "You shall count seven weeks. Begin to count the seven weeks from the time the sickle is first put to the standing corn. 10 Then you shall keep the Feast of Weeks to the Lord your God with the tribute of a freewill offering from your hand, which you shall give as the Lord your God blesses you. 11 And you shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite who is within your towns, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are among you, at the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name dwell there. 12 You shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt; and you shall be careful to observe these statutes.

 

 

칠칠절 혹은 맥추절은 첫 열매를 수확하는 절기입니다. 히브리 달력의 3번째 달, 대략 5월~6월경에 지켜지는 시반월입니다. 유월절 이후 50일째 되는 날에 지켜졌는데요. 즉, 출애굽 후 50일째 되는 날을 기념하는 날입니다. 이 절기는 하나님이 주신 땅에서 첫 수확을 했음을 감사하며 밀의 첫 열매를 성전에 봉헌하던 날입니다. 오늘날의 추수감사절에 해당합니다. 칠칠절에는 하나님이 모세에게 십계명과 율법을 내려준 날이라고 전해지는 날이기도 합니다. 그래서 율법 혹은 토라의 날이라고도 하는데 이는 출애굽을 통해 신체적으로 자유를 얻은 것뿐만 아니라 율법을 통해 영적으로 완전한 공동체로 태어났음을 의미하는 것입니다. 신약 성경은 오순절과도 연결된다고 합니다. 칠칠절 shavuot는 오순절 pentecost와 동일한 의미라고 합니다. 구약의 칠칠절은 율법을 받은 날이고 신약에서 오순절은 성령을 받은 날이라고 합니다. 칠칠절은 동양에서 곡우나 단오와 비슷한데 4월경의 곡우는 곡식이 자라기 위해 내리는 비를 의미하며 풍작을 기원하는 것이고 5월의 단오는 본격적인 여름을 맞이하며 신에게 제사를 올리는 전통입니다. 동양에서는 기원이 포커스라면 성경 속 유대인은 감사하는 태도에서 명확히 구분되는 것 같습니다.

초막절

 

13 "You shall keep the Feast of Booths for seven days, when you have gathered in the produce from your threshing floor and your wine press. 14 You shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are within your towns. 15 For seven days you shall keep the feast to the Lord your God at the place that the Lord will choose, because the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joyful.

 

 

유대인 달력의 7번째 달 티슈리월은 양력 9월에서 10월경에 해당합니다. 초막절은 일 년 중 마지막 추수를 기념하는 절기입니다. 모든 곡식과 과일을 수확후 하나님께 감사하는 축제인데 유럽과 미국의 추수감사절과도 유사한 개념입니다. 칠칠절의 경우 보리의 밀의 첫 열매를 감사하는 것이라면 초막절은 완전한 추수를 의미합니다.

 

16. "There times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord your God at the place that he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths. They shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed. 17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you.

 

이 날은 곡식과 포도 수확이 끝난 후 일주일동안 지키는 절기인데 이때 모든 남자는 매년 세 번, 이 세 절기에 하나님 앞에 나와야 하며 빈손으로 나오지 않고 하나님의 축복에 따라 예물을 드려야 합니다.

정의로운 재판과 우상숭배 금지

 

18 "You shall appoint judges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgement. 19 You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. 20 Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

 

21 "You shall not plant any tree as an Asherah beside the altar of the Lord your God that you shall make. 22 And you shall not set up a pillar, which the Lord your God hates.

 

18절은 공의로운 재판을 명령하고 불의, 뇌물 수수나 편파적인 판단을 금하며 오직 정의만을 따라야 함을 강조합니다. 이는 하나님께서 주신 땅에서 장수하고 번성하기 위한 조건입니다. 그리고 목상이나 돌기둥을 세우는 것을 엄격히 금지합니다. 이방의 우상숭배 배격하고 오직 하나님만 섬기라고 합니다.
