기득권층이 만들어 낸 십일조 신명기 26장

신명기 26장은 이스라엘 백성이 가나안 땅에 들어갔으니, 그것은 오로지 하나님의 은공 덕분이다. 그러니 너희는 나를 기념하며 제물을 바치고, 십일조를 드려야 한다 등의 내용이 들어가 있습니다.

제물을 바쳐라

1. "When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance and have taken possession of it and live in it, 2 you shall take some of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you harvest from your land that the Lord your God is giving you, and you shall put it in a basket, and you shall go to the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name to dwell there. 3 And you shall go to the priest who is in office at that time and say to him, 'I declare today to the Lord your God that I have come into the land that the Lord swore to our fathers to give us.' 4 Then the priest shall take the basket from your hand and set it doen before the altar of the Lord your God.

 

하나님이 주신 땅에 살게 했으니 거기서 얻은 소산물 등을 바치라는 얘기입니다. 하나님이 인도하고 약속만 했지 사실 온갖 고생은 사람들이 다 했는데 그럼에도 불구하고 바치라네요. 정말로 신이라면 그런 생색은 내지 않았겠죠.

 

5. "And you shall make response before the Lord your God, 'A wandering Aramean was my father. And he went down into Egypt and sojourned there, few in number, and there he became a nation, great, mighty, and populous. 6 And the Egyptians treated us harshly and humiliated us and laid on us hard labour. 7 Then we cried to the Lord, the God of our fathers, and the Lord heard our voice and saw our affliction, our toil, and our oppression. 8 And the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great deeds of terror, with signs and wonders. 9 And he brought us into this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. 10 And behold, now I bring the first of the fruit of the ground, which you, O Lord, have given me.' And you shall set it down before the Lord your God. 11 And you shall rejoice in all the good that the Lord your God has given to you and to your house, you, and the Levite, and the sojourner who is among you. 

 

신명기 26장 5절은 이스라엘인의 정체성을 여실히 선포하는 구절이 등장합니다. 방랑자 아람인을 선포하며 이집트에서 학대받은 것을 하나님이 구원하시고 약속의 땅을 주십니다. 그러니 거기서 얻는 첫 소산물을 여호와께 경배하랍니다.

십일조를 내라

 

12 "When you have finished paying all the tithe of your produce in the third year, which is the year of ththing, giving it to the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, so that they may eat within your towns and be filled, 13 then you shall say before the Lord your God, 'I have removed the sacred portion out of my house, and moreover, I have given it to the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the sidow, according to all your commandment that you have commanded me. I have not trangressed any of your commandments, nor have I forgotten them. 14 I have not eaten of the tithe while I was mourning, or removed any of it to the dead. I have obeyed the voice of the Lord my God. I have done according to all that you have commanded me. 15 Look down from your holy habitation, from heaven and bless your people Israel and the ground that you have given us, as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.'

 

 

소득의 10프로를 십일조로 내라는 내용인데요. 레위인과 외국인 그리고 고아나 과부에게 나눠줘야 한다고 합니다. 그러나 생각해 보면 이것 참 교묘해 보입니다. 일반 백성 중에도 가난한 사람이 있었을 텐데 굳이 극소수에 해당하는 고아 과부 이방인에게 주라고요? 결국 레위인 그리고 그보다 더 높은 제사장 직급들이 다 가져가는 구조 아닌가요? 불특정 다수가 모은 엄청난 금액의 십일조를 인구의 1프로나 될까 말까한 소수를 위해 모으고 쓴다? 애초부터 사기죠. 게다가 땅을 소유하지 않은 대가로 레위지파 사람들에게 그것을 주라고 했는데요. 정작 고아나 과부는 더 소수일테고 제사장 가문이 거의 다 가져갔다고 봐야하는 거죠. 당연히 부를 축적하면서 비리가 생길 수밖에 없는 구조입니다. 훗날 예수도 이 십일조를 비판했다고 하는데요. 현대인은 종교인은 물론이거니와 세금을 떼는 것부터 개인 재산의 10프로 떼는 것은 무슨 국룰도 아니고 참 법을 만드는 자가 이익을 보는 구조인 것 같습니다.

 16 "This day the Lord your God commands you to do these statutes and rules. You shall therefore be careful to do them with all your heart and with all your soul. 17 You have declared today that the Lord is your God, and that you will walk in his ways, and keep his statutes and his commandments and his rules, and will obey his voice. 18 And the Lord has declared today that you are a people for his treasured possession, as he has promised you, and that you are to keep all his commandments, 19 and that he will set you in praise and in fame and in honour high above all nations that he has made, and that you shall be a people holy to the Lord your God, as he promised."

 

신명기 26장의 요지는 제물 바치고 십일조를 내라, 같은데 마지막 구절에는 에헴, 하면서 법규를 지켜라를 강조하는 모양새입니다. 요즘에 이런 성경이 나왔다면 어디서 사기를 치려고 확 마, 하면서 어림도 없었을 것 같은데요. 그때는 이것이 통했고, 하긴 요즘도 헌금 걷는 거, 십일조 내는 것은 권장되고 있으니 한심합니다.
