몸의 새어 나오는 곳에 관한 관리 규정 신명기 23장

신명기 23장은 회중에 들어올 수 있는 자격 유무에 대한 얘기와 전쟁 중 진영 내에서 규율, 심지어 대변보는 일조차 세세한 방법이 나옵니다. 사회적 약자 보호는 물론 이자 받지 말라 함부로 서원하지 말라 서리도 정도껏 해라 등의 내용이 나옵니다.

고환 얘기는 왜 나오는지

1 "No one whose testicles are crushed or whose male organ is cut off shall enter the assembly of the Lord.

 2. "No one born of a forbidden union may enter the assembly of the Lord. Even to the tenth generation, none of his descendants may enter the assembly of the Lord.

 3. "No Ammonite or Moabite may enter the assembly of the Lord. Even to the tenth generation, none of them may enter the assembly of the Lord for ever, 4 because they did not meet you with bread and with water on the way, when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you. 5 But the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam; instead the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you,  because the Lord your God loved you. 6 You shall not seek their peace or their prosperity all your days for ever.

 

 

1절부터 소름 끼칩니다. 남성의 고환, 그러니까 생식기가 잘리거나 찌그러진 사람은 주님의 회중에 못 들어온다고 선포합니다. 이게 대체 무슨 말입니까? 이는 환관, 내시는 들어올 수 없다고 보는데 당시 주변 국가들에서 고환 제거 같은 풍습이 있어서 그런 것인지는 몰라도, 극도로 완벽주의에 결벽증이 있는 여호와는 신체의 온전함을 중시하고 생식 기능을 하지 못한 자는 사람 취급을 안 했나 봅니다. 개인적으로 남성의 생식기는 여호와가 생명 연장을 위한 특수 장치로 개발해서 장착해 둔 것인데 그것을 임의로 잘라 버렸으니 화가 나서 그런 것 같습니다.  내가 만든 생식기를 너희 맘대로 잘라버리다니 괘씸하다, 뭐 그런 거겠죠.

 

2절은 히브리어로 마암제르로 금지된 연합의 자식을 의미합니다. 이것들도 예배에 참여할 수 없다고 하는데요. 이는 근친상간으로 태어난 자식, 간음으로 태어난 자식 그리고 이방인과 결혼 혹은 종교적 금기 관계 등을 포함한 부정한 자식을 의미한다고 합니다. 그런데 이미 롯은 딸들과의 부적절한 관계로 대를 잇지 않았나요? 창세기 19장에 나오는 내용입니다. 물론 롯의 후손에 속하는 모압과 암몬 민족도 예배 금지 명령을 받긴 합니다. 하지만 다윗왕의 증조할머니는 모압 출신 이었죠. 게다가 메시아는 그 핏줄에서 나오고 아무튼, 어설프기 짝이 없습니다.

공동체 강조하면서 혈통중시 율법중시 내로남불

 

7. "You shall not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were a sojourner in his land. 8 Children born to them in the third generation may enter the assembly of the Lord.

 

그리고 에돔 사람은 형제이니 회중에 들어와도 되지만 이집트인은 안 된다. 하지만 3대 후에는 허락한다고 합니다. 정리하자면 모압과 암몬 족은 영원히 금지하고 에돔과 애굽은 과거에 사이는 안 좋았지만 형제였고 은혜도 있으니 3대 후부터는 괜찮다고 합니다. 나 같으면 들어오라고 해도 안 들어갈 것 같습니다.

몽정 얘기도 나옴

 

9. "When you are encamped against your enemies, then you shall keep yourself from every evil thing.

 10. "If any man among you becomes unclean because of a nocturnal emission, then he shall go outside the camp. He shall not come inside the camp, 11 but when evening comes, he shall bathe himself in water, and as the sun sets, he may come inside the camp.

 

nocturnal emission이 야행성 발광체라고 해서 이게 뭔 말인가 싶었는데 몽정이란 뜻이었네요. 히브리어로는 카리라고 하는데요. 이 구절도 참으로 황당합니다. 그러니까 야간 보초를 서다가 몽정을 하면 밖에 나가서 야영지 안으로 들어오지 말라고 합니다. 부정하다고 보는 거죠. 그리고는 저녁때에 목욕하고 해가 지고 나서 야영지에 들어오라고 합니다. 일종의 격리인가요? 몽정이 자의적으로 나온 것도 아니고 하나님이 만든 생명체가 일종의 부작용을 야기한 것일 텐데 이것을 부정하게 몰아가네요. 그리고 이 단어는 성경에서 완곡한 표현으로 쓴 것인데 몽정을 의미하는 단어로 고착된 거라고 하네요. 그런가요?

 

똥 함부로 싸면 전쟁에서 진다

 

12 "You shall have a place outside the camp, and you shall go out to it. 13 And you shall have a trowel with your tools, and when you sit down outside, you shall dig a hole with it and turn back and cover up your excrement. 14 Because the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and to give up your enemies before you, therefore your camp must be holy, so that he may not see anything indecent among you and turn away from you. 

 

12절도 정말 재미있습니다. 전쟁 중을 의미하는 것 같은데요. 아무 데서나 똥을 싸지 마라. 싸려면 진영 밖으로 나가서 해결해라. 삽을 들고 가서 꼭 땅을 파고 덮으라고 합니다. 이는 하나님이 진영 안에 계시기 때문이라고 하면서 똥을 그냥 방치하면 하나님이 혐오해서 떠난다. 그러면 전쟁에서 진다고 하십니다. 기가 막히고 코가 막힙니다.

남창 여창 문제

 

15 "You shall not give up to his master a slave who has escaped from his master to you. 16 He shall dwell with you, in your midst, in the place that he shall choose within one of your towns, wherever it suits him. You shall not wrong him. 도망친 노예는 붙잡지 말라고 합니다. 그렇기 때문에 주인 입장에서는 도망 못 가게 더 철저한 감시와 가혹한 징벌을 하지 않았을까 하는 우려가 되네요. 그럼에도 불구하고 도망친 노예는 또 분란을 일으킬 테니 포기해라라고 한 것일 수도.

 

17"None of the daughters of Israel shall be a cult prostitute, and none of the son of Israel shall be a cult prostitute. 18 You shall not bring the fee of a prostitute or the wages of a dog into the house of the Lord your God in payment for any vow, for both of these are an abomination to the Lord your God.

 

이스라엘 민족은 창녀가 되면 안 된다고 합니다. 남자도 마찬가지고요. 아주 타락 그 자체 시대였나 봅니다. 남창이 더 기가 막히네요. 매춘 금지와 종교적 성매매를 금지한 가운데 성매매 수익으로 헌금도 금지하는 내용입니다.

 

19. "You shall not charge interest on loans to your brother, interest on money, interest on food, interest on anything that is lent for interest. 20 You may charge a foreigner interest, but you may not charge your brother interest, that the Lord your God may bless you in all that you undertake in the land that you are entering to take possession of it.

 

그리고 여태 몸에서 새어 나오는 기관 등의 규칙을 설명하더니 뜬금포로 형제들에게 돈이나 음식 등 꾸어주고 이자를 받지 말라고 합니다. 생뚱맞네요.

 

21. "If you make a vow to the Lord your God, you shall not delay fulfilling it, for the Lord your God will surely require it of you, and you will be guilty of sin. 22 But if you refrain from vowing, you will not be guilty of sin. 23 You shall be careful to do what has passed your lips, for you have voluntarily vowed to the Lord your God what you have promised with your mouth. 

 

그리고 자발적 약속, 즉 서원했으면 지키고, 지키지 못할 약속은 함부로 내뱉지도 말라고 하십니다.

 

24 "If you go into your neighbour's vineryard, you may eat your fill of grapes, as many as you wish, but you shall not put any in your bag. 25 If you go into your neighbour's standing corn, you may pluck the ears with your hand, but you shall not put a sickle to your beighbour's standing com.

 

또한, 포도 농장이나 옥수수 밭 등 약간 훔쳐 먹는 것은 이해하나 싸서 가지 말고 손으로 따먹는 것 정도는 괜찮은데 낫으로 베서 왕창 가져갈 생각은 하지 말라고 경고합니다.
